Over 70% of teen girls say that media plays a key role in shaping their self-image, highlighting the importance of positive representation. Girls exposed to positive media role models are 200% more likely to express leadership aspirations, proving that what they see can shape who they believe they can become. However, only 26% of people heard, read about, or seen in news media are women, showing a clear gap in representation. A girl’s strong, authentic voice and image in media can challenge stereotypes and spark confidence in others. By promoting positive, diverse portrayals, we help girls see themselves as leaders, creators, and changemakers.
